Vaccinations and Deworming
Vaccinations play an important role in keeping your pet healthy. Our veterinarians recommend every dog be vaccinated for Rabies and DHLPP (a combination vaccination against distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus, parainfluenza, and leptospirosis). If you plan on boarding or grooming your dog, we highly recommend an intra-nasal Bordatella or “Kennel Cough” vaccination. Ideally, puppies should receive their DHLPP vaccinations at 8, 12, and 16 weeks of age. Rabies should be given at 16 weeks and does not need a booster. After receiving the puppy series, adult dogs need to be revaccinated yearly. The Bordatella vaccine should be boostered yearly.
Parasites can be picked up from several sources within your dog’s environment. They can cause major health problems (some are even passable to people), but are easily treated. Each dog’s risk for parasites is different, so ask your veterinarian about his/her deworming needs.
